After divorcing myself from a particularly ugly forum exchange yesterday I suddenly feel the freedom of not having to deal with grumpy people anymore. It was quite inspirational. Apparently I said something bad somewhere and that means I am a bad, bad, dog. So to save my sanity (with for goodness sake no Sean Hannity), I went back to happy and decided we needed an army to patrol the Island against angry people. I'll call it the Society Against Grumps for now while waiting on a better acronym.
South Padre is supposed to be a happy place and to heck with all this contention and negativity. Instead of troops of elderly retired people checking for "bad behavior" let's parade the streets and beaches with clowns, bicycles, strolling musicians, buskers, surfers carrying banners, and merry maids throwing flower pedals. We've done it before and will do it again. The funny thing is that even the grumpy people think it is fun.
In these gloomy, horrible times of wars, economy, and elections, it is time to get a break every now and then to have some fun, help others have fun, and Unlitter.

I understand your feelings and would love to join SAG. However, if leaving the forum meant not being able to read Sparky's Island Adventures, my life would have less meaning. So I will continue to check in from time to time.

Oh I love Sparky! What a man, and not assuming or anything ... he really likes this place too which makes him special. His "toilet awards" were especially amusing.
I look there too and I see Jason has cleaned it up a little so no, I never hold a grudge and shouldn't have been so ... so un-Sparky like.
I will check back too.

I got the point Sam, but- be careful my friend--you know it's not always the elderly, retired, people that are grumpy and looking for bad behavior.
What about the young, grumpy, Type A guys? Oh, and by the way isn't elderly a state of mind? I hope so as I get closer to it every day.

Some of the most easy going folks whom I have met have been in their 70's and 80's. Often, those of that age are a fountain of wisdom and just don't let anything faze them beacuse they have seen it all. On the other hand, some of the grumpiest, angriest, self absorbed and arrogant people whom I have ever met are guys in their 40's and 50's. I shudder to think what they will be like as they age.
